This is my general-purpose, one-size-fits-all multi-media portfolio. It is organized into the following categories:
|
Applications
Web
AllNightNeonSunrise https://allnightneonsunrise.com/ A creative micro-blogging experiment. On a lark, I developed this abstract/creative micro-blogging site with a friend; I hand-coded everything (including the CRM) from scratch using little more than python's standard library and the psycopg2 package.
ChildrensMasterpieceTheatre.com http://childrensmasterpiecetheatre.com/ A heavily-customized version of the now defunct bBlog software. Designed for and maintained by a former band of mine, this site is a substantial overhaul of the bBlog blogging software that leverages the site's PHP base and the smarty templating language. As I recall, it also took a MySQL hack or two to get everything just right.
DemonGin.org http://demongin.org/ My blog, development sandbox and all-purpose hobbyhorse. Untertaken initially in 2004 as a manually maintained HTML blog, demongin has grown considerably in scope and sophistication. The current version is written in Django. Code samples are available upon request, but due to the vastness and complexity of the site, requests should be fairly specific in terms of scope and/or features.
My Complete, Annotated Discography http://demongin.org/disco A Django app integrated into my blog, http://demongin.org, detailing my musical works. Coded from scratch, this minimalistic application was designed to be easy to update/edit/maintain and display my personal discography in an engaging, interactive fashion.
My Portfolio http://toconnell.info/ My personal directory and portfolio site. Re-written in Django during three frenzied days in February of 2010, this Django site showcases all of my development, design, musical and other professional work.
Poodlr.net http://poodlr.net/ A poodly parody of noodlr.net, this Django site randomly "generates" pictures of poodles. Rapidly developed in Django, this site does some fun things with images and makes good use of the speed and sophistication of Django's built-in administrative tools. It also has a bunch of hilarious pictures of my poodle.
Public Square http://publicsquare.net/ A not-for-profit website featuring debates and argument. I was brought on to clean up and refactor some of the legacy PHP code for this site; I also integrated WordPress and BBPress installations into the site, skinning them and handling sysadmin tasks (e.g. apache config and database dumps/backups).
The Proscriptions http://theproscriptions.com/ Interactive content site for the musical duo. Designed and developed by yours truly, this Django port of an old, hand-written HTML site allows users to download The Proscriptions' entire discography as MP3's or in zip archives, among other things.
The Sweetheart Brigade http://thesweetheartbrigade.com/ A quick-and-dirty WordPress customization for a band. Chicago's Sweetheart Brigade, a four-man rock-hop group in which I play the drums, uses this WP site to serve content and news. I skinned it and bolted a hand-written PHP function or two onto it to suit our specific needs.
